The morning wave were gifted calmer winds and softer greens during round two of the inaugural Orlando Health Championship at Grasslands Golf & Country Club. The field of 120 athletes was cut down to 62 athletes with the cut line being 2-over par.

Maddie McCrary is an Epson and LPGA Tour veteran coming off a 2-under start at the Orlando Health Championship. The 30-year-old continued her momentum this afternoon, firing a clean 4-under on her opening nine.

McCrary carded two birdies on her opening holes and did not stop there, dropping birdies on holes four and eight.

McCrary mentioned, “Starting off strong, I almost dunked it on the first hole. I hit it to like a foot, so that started my round. It was great.”

The Oklahoma State alumna dropped deeper into the red with under-par holes on 13 and 16 to finish out her opening 36 holes bogey-free at 8-under par total. McCrary sits atop the leaderboard with a two-shot lead heading into Sunday as she looks to seal the deal and claim her first professional title.

“Yeah, every single time I've been in a position, I haven't really been able to complete the win. McCrary expressed, “But the more you fail, the more you learn. So just taking that into tomorrow is going to be great.”

Another player taking advantage of Grasslands Golf and Country Club was Julia Gregg. The Epson Tour sophomore drained four birdies on the day to sign for a 3-under, 69 heading into Championship Sunday, two shots out of the lead. As a projected player to watch, she is continuing her momentum from last week at Alaqua Country Club, where she finished T15.

“Today, I hit it pretty good, expressed Gregg. “I hit it much better than I did yesterday. Did top a driver yesterday. Dead top. But it's fine. Made par. Had some really good numbers and pins. Just kind of set up well for my little baby draw. Putted pretty well, but I really just think I had good numbers and I hit much better than I did yesterday. Took advantage of it when I hit it very close.”

Rachel Kuehn is a 24-year-old who has started this season on a high note, with a T23 finish at the Atlantic Beach Classic presented by Access Golf, but then faltered last week with a T48 finish at the IOA Golf Classic. However, the Wake Forest alumna’s hard work is starting to show, draining six birdies on the day, posting a 5-under 67.

Carla Bernat Escuder opened her day on one tee, marking her first birdie of the day on the par-5 No.2. The Spaniard made her only mistake of the day on hole three, but was soon under par after draining three consecutive birdies on holes seven through nine to round the turn 2-under. The Epson rookie ultimately signed for a 3-under, 69, and heads into the final round in a tie for seventh, five shots behind leader Maddie McCrary.

The Orlando Health Championship is setting up to deliver drama and opportunity in its inaugural year, with only a five-stroke differential between athletes inside the top-10 on the leaderboard. Follow along with live scoring here.
