The final round of the FireKeepers Casino Hotel Championship was a wet and windy day to begin, ultimately resulting in a suspension of play for around three hours. Once play resumed the sun came out, but gusty winds coming down the stretch made for an intense Saturday afternoon at The Medalist Golf Club.

Lauryn Nguyen started off strong with back-to-back birdies on the par-5 fourth and par-4 fifth, but nerves got the best of her with a double-bogey on the sixth. After the dropped shots on the sixth, Nguyen refocused to sink deeper into the red draining birdies on holes seven and nine to head into her final nine holes, 2-under par.

“I mean, it's kind of crazy, said Nguyen. “I really didn't have a lot of expectation going into this whole year, so it's really, really cool to be able to have some good finishes and to come out with a win.”

The Epson Tour rookie felt the nerves yet again, dropping a shot with a bogey on No. 10, followed by another on the par-3 12th. However, the Seattle, Washington native implemented discussion with her boyfriend who plays the role of caddie as well to keep her mind off golf. Nguyen sunk a birdie on 14, but once she knocked in her birdie putt on the 54th hole, the 23-year-old knew she had claimed her first title.

“I think just coming down the stretch, just being able to talk about something other than golf, I think that's one thing that we do really well," expressed Nguyen. “And yeah, just being, being able to lean on someone and know that you're not alone.”

Nguyen finished the day with a 2-under, 70, to separate herself by three shots from the remainder of the field to hoist her first Epson Tour trophy. The last time Nguyen won was just over a year ago with her team at Northwestern helping them earn a NCAA National Championship for the first time in program history. With this win, Nguyen walks away with $30,000 and 500 points in Race for the Card standings, along with 500 points through the first week of the 2026 Pure Michigan Cup.

When asked if she ever thought she would win this early in her professional career Nguyen mentioned, “I don't want to say no, but I honestly had no expectation coming into this year. I think coming into it, I just wanted to learn. I know there's a lot of really, really great players and a lot really experienced players, so I think I kind of just wanted to learn and everything was just kind of a bonus.”

Second place was Epson and LPGA veteran Jenny Coleman, finishing at 9-under par for the tournament, highlighted by a 5-under round of 67 on Saturday.

Fellow rookie, Mirabel Ting, followed closely behind to round out the podium at 8-under, after firing a 4-under 68 though the tough conditions on Sunday afternoon. Ting drained seven birdies on the day giving her confidence as she heads to Belmont, Michigan to tee it up in a Monday qualifier for a chance to compete in the Meijer LPGA Classic for Simply Give.

Rylee Suttor and Xiaowen Yin round out the top five sitting in a tie for fourth. Suttor’s round was highlighted by four birdies on the day. Yin struggled throughout the day but still managed to find four birdies during the final round. This is Rylee Suttor’s first top-5 on the Epson Tour and is looking forward to bringing that confidence into the next two weeks in the Michigan stretch.

Players and the Epson Tour will now head to Harbor Springs, Mich. to play at the Great Lakes Championship at the Highlands set to begin on June 19th.
